Big Island Circle Island Tour with Pickup from Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa
Pickup 7:00–7:15 am | about 10 hours door to door | $245 per person | Max 14 guests
If you're staying at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott, you already know the rhythm of Anaehoʻomalu Bay — morning paddlers on the water, the fishponds glowing at sunset. What A-Bay can't show you is the half of the island that's green, wet, and still being built by an active volcano. That's the half our Circle Island Tour is for.
Pickup is at the Marriott's front entrance between 7:00 and 7:15 am — grab a coffee from the lobby café beforehand and you'll be sipping it over lava fields ten minutes later. The night before, your guide phones to confirm the exact minute, so there's no hovering in the lobby wondering if you've missed us.
The day, from A-Bay's point of view
The Marriott sits at the heart of the Waikoloa Beach Resort on the island's dry Kohala side, which means the drive itself becomes part of the show: within the first hour you'll watch the landscape change from jet-black lava plains to the coffee-green slopes above Kailua-Kona. From your pickup it's roughly two and a half hours of touring south — with stops — before you stand on the black sand at Punaluʻu, and the volcano comes shortly after.
You circle back through Hilo and the Hamakua Coast in the afternoon, where Akaka Falls drops 442 feet through rainforest that gets more rain in a month than Waikoloa sees in a year. Coming home over the Saddle between Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, most guests are surprised to realize they've crossed most of the climate zones on Earth since breakfast.

Questions from guests at Waikoloa Beach Marriott
What time should I be in the Marriott lobby?
A few minutes before 7:00 am. The pickup window for the Waikoloa corridor is 7:00–7:15, and your guide will have confirmed your exact time by phone the evening before.
Is breakfast worth skipping for the early start?
Don't skip it — grab something quick. There's a lunch stop midway plus snacks and bottled water on board, but a light breakfast makes the morning leg more enjoyable. The lobby café opens early.
We have a luau booked at the resort — will the tour get back in time?
Usually yes for later seatings: the tour is about 10 hours door to door from your 7:00–7:15 am pickup. If you have a tight same-day booking, mention it when you reserve and we'll advise honestly.
Do you also pick up from the Kings' Shops or Queens' Marketplace area?
Yes — Queens' Marketplace on Waikoloa Beach Drive is our designated meeting point for anyone staying nearby whose accommodation isn't on our direct pickup list.
