Private Big Island Tour & Charter
Your group. Your itinerary. Your island day.
A private Big Island tour is a day reserved entirely for your group, with up to 14 guests in a luxury Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and an owner-guide at the wheel. There are no strangers to collect and no shared timetable to follow. Tell us what you most want to see, and we will agree on an itinerary around your interests, your pace and the island's conditions. The price is from $3,200 for the vehicle, up to 14 guests.
Who a private charter suits
Bring your family, a multi-generation group or a small corporate group who would rather spend the day together than coordinate separate cars. Photographers can ask for more time at a favorite landscape; families can build in breaks. Guests interested in Waipiʻo lookout, South Point or Mauna Kea sunset options can discuss those requests with us in advance. Access, weather, road conditions and the practical length of the day determine what is possible; these are options to discuss, not guaranteed stops.
An owner-guide, not a script
Our Polynesian guides — Native Hawaiian and Samoan — share the island through lived experience. Miexia is Native Hawaiian and a military veteran; Leon was born in Samoa and has guided on the Big Island for more than twenty years. Your owner-guide helps you choose a day that makes sense, whether that means volcano landscapes, waterfalls, black sand, coffee country or a quieter route. Veteran-Owned & Locally Owned means the people hosting you have a stake in the day.
How your private day comes together
Enquire by phone or email rather than through the shared-tour Bokun checkout. Share your preferred date, guest count, pickup address and the experiences that matter to you. We confirm the date and pickup, then agree on a custom itinerary in advance. Your guide can adapt the route on the day for conditions, safety and your group's needs. If you have mobility needs, young children or a fixed return time, tell us while planning so we can discuss the details together.
What's included
Hotel pickup in Kona or Waikoloa is included, and private tours can also pick up anywhere on the island by arrangement. Water and Hawaiian snacks travel with you, there is a restroom at every stop, and a photo gallery of your day is included. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park entry and car seats for young children are included. Lunch and gratuity are not included. For the complete private-tour planning guide, including both-van and half-day options, see our private tours for families and groups page.

Private charter questions
How far in advance should we book?
Book about two months ahead for December–March and June–August, or two to three weeks ahead otherwise. Contact us with your dates to check availability; private vans are limited.
Can we change the route on the day?
Yes. We agree on a custom itinerary in advance, and your owner-guide can adjust it on the day for your interests, weather, road access and volcanic activity. Safety and available time determine which changes are possible.
Is the volcano included?
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park entry is included when the park is part of your agreed itinerary. Tell us if the volcano is your priority so we can plan enough time there. Access and viewing conditions can change; lava sightings are not guaranteed.
Do you do airport or cruise-ship pickups?
Private tours pick up anywhere on the island. Contact us with your airport or cruise-ship arrival details, luggage needs and required return time so we can confirm access, timing and the pickup location before booking.
